Developed by Mihai Gavota, the BestPlay application will let you access all your multimedia files. This means you can load and view videos and images and you can load and listen to your audio tracks. Furthermore, you can use the application to listen to online radio stations.

The BestPlay installation file is 9MB in size. Run this file to install the media player on a PC powered by anything from Windows 2000 onward, PC that has DirectX 9 or newer on it. You should also note that the setup wizard that guides you through the BestPlay installation process asks you to choose between a regular and a portable installation. Or to put in other words, you can install BestPlay on your desktop PC or on a USB stick.

There are two interface types to choose from: Modern and Classical. By default, the application uses the Modern interface; with a mouse click on a button from the lower right hand side, you can quickly switch to the Classical interface. From the Options menu you can change the colors used by the application for its interface.

Add a video to the BestPlay list, and the application will play it. Add an audio file, and the media player will play it as well. Open the Slide Show Configuration Pane, select the images you want, and the application will then present a slideshow of your selected images. BestPlay also comes with an online radio tuner that lets you listen to online radio stations and a feature to record audio.

BestPlay 4.1 Full is shareware; you can use it for free for a trial period of 30 days. BestPlay 3.5 Lite is freeware, but it comes with a few limitations: no more than 10 media files in lists; radio station, radio tuner and mini radio will not run for longer than 10 minutes; the built-in chat system will not run for longer than 10 minutes either; the same goes for the FTP server.

Play your videos, listen to your tracks, watch your images – you can do all that and more with the BestPlay media player.

Pros

Choose between a regular desktop installation and a portable BestPlay installation. Pick between a Modern and a Classical interface; you can customize the application’s interface. BestPlay supports numerous multimedia formats; use it to watch videos, listen to music, view images. There’s a built in FTP server, chat system, radio tuner.

Cons

BestPlay is only free to try.
